Biography

Ian Balfour is Investor Lead for the Nordics at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. With decades of experience in finance, Ian provides ultra-high-net-worth individuals with timely investment strategies and advice.

Ian joined the firm in 1991, beginning his career in the CIB Fixed Income and Derivative Sales division. A decade later, Ian moved to the Private Bank in Milan, where he advised high net-worth clients on all of their wealth management needs.

For eight years he worked primarily from Geneva where he was an investor for the East Mediterranean region, then a banker in Turkey and Israel and ultimately Head of the Swiss market. Ian returned to South Africa and the CIB in 2009 as Head of Markets until 2021.

Ian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University and an MBA from the Institute for Management Development (IMD).
